What to do in Tobago

Argyle Waterfall

Tobago was one of the most fought over island's in the Caribbean.  Since the 1400's no other West Indian island has been fought over by European powers with such intensity. This can been seen to this day by the large array of landmark's and artefacts found on the island.

Originally named 'Tobaco' by the locals, based on a long stemmed pipe the locals used to smoke, what we know as Tobacco.  Christopher Columbus first spotted Tobago on August 13th 1498, and over the next 250 years many nations fought over her.  From the Spanish, British, Dutch, Courlanders, French and even the Americans.

This diversity of cultures can still be seen in Tobago today, and many have now been blended so as to create a unique heritage of its own.

The many festivals shown in the calendar represent each village's offering to the rest of the island, in the form of a local festival.  Giving food and drink to anyone who comes to join the party.

Tobago not only benefits from its history, but also its natural beauty.  Tobago has a large population of some of the most beautiful birds.  It has a terrain that is ideal for hikers and mountain bikers.  It's waters team with life, for fishermen, snorkelers and divers to enjoy.  The beaches are largely un-populated, and so unlike most other holiday destinations, you can get a beach to yourself.

Welcome to Tobago, please come and visit us, and leave with the memory of the Caribbean how it used to be.
