Magdalena Golf and Spa Resort - Click to EnlargeThe WOW intends to host an IDC and IE during this year; the start date for both courses are to be derermined and published soon. The hours of the courses normally run from 8am until 4pm for the whole week.  These times are subject to change depending on progress made, but all candidates should make this time available.  and all candidates must remember to bring a PADI Instructor Manual to all training sessions.

For the week leading up to the IDC, we intend to offer (subject to availability of instructors) a free Divemaster workshop starting at 1:00pm each day for those candidates signed up who would like to do an academics refresher.

Classroom training will be done either in our own dive centre or the conference facilities of the Magdalena Grand Beach Resort, with the pool training done in the ONLY DESIGNED AND DEDICATED DIVE POOL on the island.  The Open Water sections of the training can be completed in the warm blue waters of Tobago.

Prices for the courses start at US$1200 for the IDC, US$175 for the EFRI. These prices do NOT include course materials or registration with PADI.

December 2008 - Delta, Monarch and Cruise lines come to Tobago

Delta AirlinesIt would appear that Tobago is going to have many more visitors in 2009, as some of the major travel carriers will be adding Tobago to their itineraries.  Both Monarch Airlines and Delta Airlines will start flying directly to Tobago from mid December 2008, plus we are due to receive more than twice as many cruise ships as last year.  Both Carnival and Princess Cruise lines will add Tobago to their ports of call during 2009.

Coming to Tobago from the U.S.

Until recently, the easiest way to get from the US to Tobago was to fly into Trinidad (Port of Spain) and take the shuttle flight across to Tobago.  The airlines flying US-Trinidad routes are Delta (ATL), American Airlines (MIA), Continental (IAH and EWR) and Caribbean Airlines (JFK and MIA).  From December 2008, Delta will be flying directly from Atlanta straight to Tobago every Monarch AirlinesSaturday (returning on a Sunday).

Coming to Tobago from the U.K.

British Airways and Virgin fly to Tobago weekly, but from December 2008, Monarch will take over  the route left vacant when Excel Airlines went into receivership earlier this year. Monarch will be operating a weekly Wednesday service from London Gatwick.

Tobago Sunset - Click to EnlargeNovember 2006 - New BSAC instructors!

This month we added three new BSAC instructors to our team!  Mike Thomas made a special trip to Tobago to train three of our staff in a crossover from PADI.  It was a week long training course whereby we all got to know a lot more about BSAC, and maybe even helped Mike know a little more about PADI.

WOW's would like to thank Mike and BSAC for offering us this opportunity and putting so much faith in us.  We're the only BSAC training centre on the island.  With SEAN ROBINSON (BSAC Advanced Instructor), we have all the BSAC instructors on the island, and are able to cover any and all of your BSAC training in Tobago.

Caldicott School - Click to EnlargeMarch 2006 - School Dive Trip

At the very end of March 2006, we were visited by 13 lads and three staff from Caldicott School in Buckinghamshire, UK. Most of the young men hadn?t dived before, and it was the start of a week long adventure, which saw each of them attain the level of Junior Open Water Diver. For an entire week the boys ate, slept and breathed scuba information, with the exception of a game of soccer with the Speyside local boys on their final day.

It was hard work for them, but they rose to the challenge marvellously, and were incredibly well behaved, polite lads, who were a credit to their families and staff at the school. We hope, one day, to have them back for their advanced courses and beyond! And, boys? any time you want a re-match, you know where to find us!

January 2006 - We're on TV

A Place in the Sun"A Place in the Sun" - Kate Burnell-Freeman married hubby Martin in the Caribbean and ever since they?ve dreamed of relocating to this glorious part of the world and setting up in business. With some earlier property development success providing an ample budget, Kate brings best mate Jackie Hamblen to the palm-fringed island of Tobago to accompany her on her house hunt. Leading the expedition into the Tobagan property market is presenter Jasmine Harman who tracks down some mouth-watering trophy properties: a duplex with sea views, a gorgeous house with separate rentable apartment and a villa with a 6,000 foot Caribbean garden.

That was the plan, but they also wanted to take a look at our Dive Centre, and have a chat with my wife Lisa.  She's now famous, and I can't get her to work anymore, with people calling or emailing all the time asking about her! Damn, I should have been there that day, instead of diving!  Fred Aidroos, the director, came to learn his PADI Rescue Course, and spend some time with us.  He made extra special mention of the dive shop in the show, for which we are very grateful.  We look forward to seeing him and the team, at some time in the future.
