If you want to learn to dive, so that you can explore the coasts around the British Isles, this is the course for you. It is possible to start the week with no previous experience of scuba diving and end the week ready to go diving anywhere in the world, with your world-recognised BSAC Ocean Diver certification. But this is not just any BSAC Ocean Diver course, as unlike other schools, all the sea dives take place in the beautiful caribbean waters of Tobago. So you get not only a week of fun taking the course, but you also get five dives in one of the Caribbean's best places to dive.

You start in the pool and learn essential basic skills including breathing underwater, clearing your regulator and mask, buoyancy control, finning techniques and techniques for safe diving. You then build on these basic skills and practice them both in the pool, and then in the sea, all the time under the supervision of one of our qualified and experienced BSAC Instructors. All the teaching and support materials are used to ensure that you understand the simple physics behind diving and to give you the confidence and enthusiasm to continue diving after your course. In addition to the prescribed skills we aim to develop your confidence in the water, so that you leave us as a safe, competent and qualified diver.

Why BSAC Ocean Diver?

The BSAC Ocean Diver qualification is a worldwide recognised diving achievement, which will allow you to dive in countries all around the world.  It will allow you to dive up to 20m (65ft) when accompanied by a diver with a higher level qualification.

What do I need to start?

No previous diving experience is necessary.  You must pass the BSAC Medical and be over 12 years of age.

Note Referrals: If you have completed part of the course already (e.g. pool training in the UK), we can accept the referral providing you present us with the signed BSAC Qualification Record Book (QRB).  Pricing will depend upon content that you have already completed.

What will I do?

The course consists of five sheltered water lessons (swimming pool), five lessons in open water, basic swimming assessment, a book to read, some classroom work and a final exam.  Ideally we would like you to read the book before coming to Tobago, so that you dont have to do any studying whilst here.  Although I guess sunbathing by the pool, whilst sipping cocktails, and reading a book does sound like an ideal holiday!

How long will it take?

Brittle Star - Click to Enlarge This course can take up to six days to complete depending on your speed of mastery of skills, and the time it takes to read the BSAC Ocean Diver book.  The classroom work is usually complete in a one day session, including the final exam.  The six pool lessons can either be spread out during your holiday, or join togther in one full days session.  The five open water lessons are usually spread out over two to three days, with two dives per day up to a maximum of three dives in a day.  So as you see, the course can be completed in as little as 3 very full days, or you could spread it out over a two week holiday.  The most common is five half days, leaving most of your afternoon's free, to explore Tobago, or be with friends and family that you may have come on holiday with.
